The Andaman as it used to be.
Trang is the quiet stretch of Thailand’s Andaman coast — south of Krabi, north of the Malaysian border, home to the islands that the guidebooks describe as the ones Phuket used to be. The Sunny Hill sits on a private hilltop at Bo Hin, Sikao, with a beautiful beach right across the road from the front gate and the whole archipelago laid out on the horizon. It exists for people who want the sea, the sunsets and the islands without the crowds that usually come with them. It is also one of the coolest places in Thailand — literally. The breeze that moves across the open hillside keeps the hill 2–3 °C cooler than the towns below, and every afternoon the sea breeze arrives to take the edge off the tropical sun.
The villas
Each villa on the hill was designed around a view. Pool Villa 240° takes its name from the arc of sea it faces, with three bedrooms and a private infinity pool. Sunny Hill House is the family flagship — five bedrooms, from an elegant master suite to a children’s bunk room, around a dining room that seats twelve. The Sunset Suite is one bedroom, one couple, and a balcony that faces the evening. And The Private Estate is all of it at once: the whole hilltop, its pools and terraces, for up to 24 guests and no one else.
The team
We are a small team rather than a hotel. A personal concierge looks after every booking from the first email — private chef dinners on your deck, in-villa Thai massage, island days by private longtail, transfers, celebrations — and the same people are on hand through your stay. Our boat captains and guides are local to the Trang coast and its islands, and we work only with ethical operators for wildlife and elephant experiences.
How we like to do things
Quietly. The hill is not a resort: there is no reception, no schedule and no one else’s wedding at the pool. Guests who book direct pay our lowest rate and are welcomed with a sunset dinner, a private airport transfer and a massage on the terrace, because we would rather spend on you than on platform commissions.
